Verandah golf tournament supports The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida

(Dec. 2, 2011) – Verandah, the 1,456-acre master-planned community located along the Orange River in Fort Myers, has teamed up with PGA Tour player Derek Lamely, Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member Bert Blyleven, future LPGA player Michelle Shin and Verandah Director of Golf Nathan Groce for a golf exhibition benefiting The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.

The nine-hole event takes place Thursday, Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. on Verandah’s championship Old Orange golf course, a classic design by award-winning architect Bob Cupp.

The team of Lamely and Blyleven will represent the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit while Shin and Groce compete for The Children’s Hospital Capital Campaign, an effort to raise funds for a new 136-bed state-of-the-art facility that will enhance pediatric hospital care in Southwest Florida.

The entry fee for spectators is a minimum donation of $75 and includes food and beverage and a voucher for a round of golf at Verandah.

Participants can also take part in a raffle that further benefits The Children’s Hospital, and a check presentation at the River House following the tournament.

A title sponsor level is available for $2,500 and includes entry for eight, a round of golf for four, inclusion in marketing materials and a signed photo with celebrity golfers. Additional sponsorships start at $250.
