Timacuan Golf and Country Club set to Host U.S. Open Qualifier

LAKE MARY, Fla. – One of the Orlando area’s most popular tournament courses, Timacuan Golf And Country Club, will host the USGA U.S. Open Local Qualifying Tournament on Thursday, May 17. It marks the third straight year that Timacuan has hosted the event.

A total of 84 players will tee it up for five or six spots in the sectional qualifier, with the hope of eventually making it to the U.S. Open in June at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Timacuan has hosted several tournaments of national scope already in 2012. Those events include the $10,000 Timacuan Scramble, the NGA Tour with several Nationwide Tour players, the Ladies Suncoast Tour, the Hurricane Tour Junior Tour with over 100 top players from across the world, The Golf Channel Amateur Tour, the Moonlight Mini Tour and the U.S. Kids Tour.
Timacuan features two distinctly different nines. The front nine has a Scottish feel, with open fairways, mounding, sprawling bunkers and large greens. The back nine has more of a Carolinas Lowcountry feel featuring stately oaks, tall pines and several water hazards that demand precision off the tee and to the green.
