Todd Hunter wins Golfer's Guide Free Golf Orlando Giveaway

Todd HunterIn the course of a typical week, Todd Hunter makes time to play five or six rounds of golf. He hadn't planned on cutting back because of the economy, and thanks to Golfer's Guide's Central Florida Golf Giveaway promotion, he'll find his name on the tee sheet even more in '09.

"I saw the contest for free golf and I figured why not," said Hunter who was on his way back from playing his first free round at LPGA International. "A few weeks later I get an email that says I won and to tell you the truth, I didn't really remember entering. I thought it was a joke. But now, I think it's great that I won."

Hunter, who is 24, works as a marketing and sales associate at Mystic Dunes golf course. He says he's about an 8-handicap golfer. His favorite course in the Orlando area is Mystic Dunes, where he plays a few times per week, because of its diversity, Carolina feel and potential for uneven lies.

Hunter won in the neighborhood of 20 free rounds of golf to be used during this calendar year. On most occasions, he'll be able to take a friend as part of a twosome, but a few courses will allow him to bring along three friends. He is looking forward to playing the courses on the list since he has only sampled a few in the past. Hunter said he's most looking forward to playing the hilly Southern Dunes and ChampionsGate. A few other courses he'll be playing for free include Celebration, Falcon's Fire, MetroWest and Shingle Creek.

Hunter, who is originally from Fayeteville, N.C., says his all-time favorite course is Tobacco Road, an award-winning design by Mike Strantz located in the North Carolina Sandhills.

"I've only played in the U.S., but I've never seen anything like it," Hunter said.

Hunter, who has lived in Orlando for roughly 13 months, said he is really looking forward to sampling some new courses in the region.
