Victoria Hills Ranked No. 10 on Golf Magazine's Best in State List

Victoria Hills Golf ClubVictoria Hills Golf Club , the award-winning Ron Garl design managed by Billy Casper Golf and located in Victoria Park, is ranked No. 10 among Florida’s best public-access courses by Golf Magazine in the September issue.

This marks the first time Golf Magazine, one of the nation’s most widely circulated golf publications, has ranked the best courses in each state. Victoria Hills is in elite company on the list of Florida’s finest, alongside several hosts to professional tour events and world famous resorts; the state boasts more than 700 public-access courses in all. The magazine’s rankings panel included editorial staff and well-traveled golf industry sources.

Earlier this year, Victoria Hills advanced two places to No. 7 on Golfweek’s 2008 Best You Can Play, State-by-State rankings.

“It is a great honor to be selected by Golf Magazine as one of Florida’s top 10 golf courses,” says Matt Payne, Head Professional at Victoria Hills. “The recognition is a testament to Ron Garl’s outstanding course design as well as the commitment of our staff to making Victoria Hills a first-class golf experience.”

One of the region’s most popular golf options since opening in 2001, Victoria Hills is set amid a stunning canopy of live oaks, tall pines and pristine lakes. The course’s rolling terrain features more than 50 feet of elevation change, with free-form waste areas and steep-face bunkers providing an unmistakable “Pine Valley” feel that strikes a chord with students of golf course design.

Victoria Hills was selected by the United States Golf Association and Florida State Golf Association to host a U.S. Open Local Qualifier in 2007. The home course of the Stetson University men’s and women’s golf teams, Victoria Hills has also staged a U.S. Senior Open qualifier and NCAA collegiate events over the past three years.
