Chip shots 2/7/12

Scott Berliner came from three shots behind in the final round to defeat two-time defending champion and West Florida Golf Tour career money leader Joey Lamielle to win the revamped Manatee County Open.

Berliner used a very patient bogey free 68 to win the tournament after first-round leader Lamielle fired a 66.

Finishing in a tie for second were Dan Stone, Kevin Warrick and Lamielle, who closed with a 73.

The event was a huge success with a purse of $17,000 purse, largest yet on the WFGT.

--- After a brief illness, Arlene McKitrick of Longboat Key is back winning tournaments.

"I won the American Seniors in December at Naples and the Longboat Key Club Championship for the 35th time," she said.

That's gives the senior golfer 170 career wins.

"I have my Ritz and Concession Club Championships coming up and an International tournament In Scotland, a couple of American Senior events at Innisbrook and the Breakers and I am planning to play in the Executive cup this year.  I won it in 2000,2004 and 2008 so maybe 2012 is a good omen."
