Like him or not, golf needs Tiger Woods.

Will he ever regain his No. 1 form? If the singles competition of the recent Presidents Cup is any barometer, Woods is tracking back to where he once was. He waxed Aaron Baddeley, making shots and putts like the Tiger of old.  He made captain Fred Couples, who started a controversy by making
Woods one of his picks, look like a genius.  Is Tiger back? I think so.

But he may find out that there are some talented Americans and foreign players who are not ready to hand him the No. 1 status he enjoyed for so many years.

How far he has come could be determined by this week’s Chevron Challenge, where many of the best players in the world are entered.  It offers an excellent preview to the 2012 Masters.
