Ewart off to fast start

Jodi Ewart of Sarasota is making strong case for rookie of the year honors on the LPGA Tour.  She has cashed four checks, finished in the top 10 once and ranks 32nd on the tour with $82,065 in earnings.

Tour sophomore Jessica Korda ranks No. 14 on the money list with $165,000. She has won one tournament. Former Bradenton resident Paula Creamer, who represents the Ritz-Carlton members Club, has won $61,023 and ranks No. 38.

But the story of last week on the LPGA Tour was I.K. Kim, who missed possibly the shortest putt to win a major championship and ultimately lost in a playoff at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Kim had a putt from a foot on Sunday to win her first career major, but it looped around the hole and lipped out.
