Fund-raising tournaments

Heron Creek Golf and Country Club will host the John Ellison "CMT" Awareness Fundraiser, Saturday June 4, 2011 

The format is a four person scramble 8:00am Shotgun Start. Team entry fee is $400 and includes green and cart fee, range balls before play, Closest to the Hole Contests, Longest Drive, Bounce Back Coupon for each player, a Gift certificate for each player, and Lunch Buffet.
The Re/Max World Long Drive Quarterfinalist, Kevin Shook, will be hitting tee shots for each team on one par five All proceeds to benefit the John Ellison CMT Fund. Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) is a neurological, genetic disease that affects the bones. It is incurable and if progressive (as in John's case) the only treatment is surgery to try to stop or at least manage the progression. John was diagnosed in 2005 and has had many surgeries both large and small. He now has a prognosis of at least yearly surgery because of the progression of the disease.      --- The third annual Tee it Up for the CRC (Caregiver Resource Center) is slated for May 6 at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club.  Fun for a good cause, the event will help support Senior Friendship Centers Caregiver Resource Center in Sarasota, which benefits hundreds of caregivers annually, providing vital information, support and education.
Registration for the scramble format tournament gets underway at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. followed by a buffet luncheon and auction. As a Goodie Bag Bonus, each player receives a certificate for a future round of golf (cart not included) at Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club. Registration is $100 per player.    --- Sarasota High School Baseball Boosters are holding their 6th annual fundraiser tournament on May 7th at Oak Ford Golf Club.  All proceeds will go to offset the expenses of the baseball program.   Cost is $80 and includes golf, dinner and awards.

   --- Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Physicians Golf Tournament at The Concession Golf Club on May 6.  The cost is $395 and includes professional caddies and tips, a cart, lunch buffet, an awards dinner and all beverages.  The tournament features a scramble format with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Physicians Endowment for staff education at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
