Lakewood To Host CESB Charity Tournament

By Mark Cardon

Marc Barcelo is determined to keep the doors open to the Conductive Education Center of Sarasota & Bradenton (CESB). He has a very personal interest. His 8-year-old daughter Grace attends the Center several days a week. She was born with Cerebral Palsy and is blind in both eyes.

Barcelo, the head golf pro at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, is leading an effort to raise money for the Center by hosting a golf tournament. The first CESB Charity Golf Tournament will be played at Lakewood Ranch on Sept. 8 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The cost for the tournament is $125. Non-golfers can attend the lunch and silent auction for $25. For more information, contact Barcelo at 941-737-6344 and 941-907-1137 or by e-mail at marc.barcelo@lakewoodranchgolf.com or visit www.cecfl.org and click on Sarasota Program on the left.

Barcelo is well-known in the area. He was an assistant pro at TPC-Prestancia before being part of the team that opened the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in 2005. He spent four years as the head pro at Doral in Miami before returning to the area last year. Contact Mark Cardon via e-mail at fcardon@aol.com.
