Pro Challenge coming to IMG

Golf’s silly season provides places to play for touring pros and entertainment for those who normally wouldn’t have a chance to watch them.

Two weeks ago, Michael Bradley of the PGA Tour and Brittany Lincicome of the LPGA Tour played at West Florida Golf Tour tournament at The Founders Club.

The second annual RBC Bank Pro Challenge golf tournament will be held at
the IMG Academies Golf & Country Club on Dec. 3-4, and promoter Marvin Boisvert already has a commitment from Ken Duke, who won last week’s Nationwide
Championship Tournament.

This two-day professional event consists of two-player teams playing two
different formats. On Dec. 3, the players will play a better-ball format,
while on Dec. 4, the players will compete in a scramble.  They will be playing for a purse of approximately $30,000 with the winning team guaranteed $10,000.

Boisvert, the president of Florida Event and Sports Marketing, promises a fun weekend for participants and spectators.

For example, he is planning a high school shootout. Area high school teams will compete for a closest to the pin on the driving range. The winning high school will receive $500 for its golf program. The early favorites are the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs, who won the state championship last week.

Also, Chuck the Hit Man, a local
personality who has appeared many times on the Golf Channel, will be
holding an amazing trick shot exhibition on the driving range.

In addition, the Tampa Bay Lightning Mobile unit
(50 feet long) will be on site with many goodies for the spectators, and the PGA golf pros will be hosting a clinic on the driving range.
