Glen Murray, director of golf at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, expects their Tom Fazio-designed course to be an excellent platform for the state’s best competitive players.

“While golf course conditions are near perfection, the players will have to endure the challenge of 54 holes in the heat of July, fast greens and two golf courses that will surely separate the better players, providing a most exciting tournament," Murray said.

Started in 1942, the Florida Open Championship has produced past champions that include Willie Turnesa, Bob Murphy, Gary Koch, Bruce Fleischer, John Huston, Dudley Hart and Bart Bryant.
