Rymer captures WFGT playoff

Tommy Rymer of Sarasota fired a final-round 67 and won a three-player playoff to capture West Florida Golf Tour two-day tournament at Ritz-Carlton Members Club.

He took home a check worth $2,200.

Playing in the final pairing, Sarasota's Brian Ward holed a 13-footer on No. 18 to secure a second-round 70 and a spot in a playoff. Brooksville's Fred Farmer birdied No. 18 to round out the playoff, which began on the 18th hole.

Ward lost his fourth playoff on the WFGT. His birdie attempt on the first extra hole just rolled away from the cup at the last second.

On the second playoff hole, Farmer three-putted and Rymer made par for the victory.
