The focal point of a 211-acre recreational complex, Plantation Preserve golf course is a 7,148-yard par-72 layout designed to showcase and sustain the rich environment of Broward County and accommodate all skill levels.

Built by the well-regarded architectural firm of von Hagge, Smelek & Baril, Plantation Preserve was built on the site of the city''s original golf course, which was constructed in 1950. From the tree islands dominated by cypress, cocaplum and pond apple, to the wetland marshes filled with spikerush, duck potato and fireglag - everything you see as you walk through the facility''s linear park or the golf course was specifically chosen to create an environment that is similar to that of early Broward County.

Near what was the 14th hole, in the westernmost part of the golf course, lies a Tequesta Indian burial mound. Artifacts from the site were excavated in 1975 and sent to the University of Miami for study, but the site is still historically significant.

Beginning golfers and seasoned pros will be challenged by the 18-hole championship golf course. Every hole has been constructed with 5 sets of tee boxes, allowing players to set their own level of difficulty.

Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club is still the only public golf course in Broward County to feature the Sea Dwarf Paspalum grass surface throughout the golf course. Its state-of-the-art driving range will feature both grass and mat surfaces, high-quality range balls, a huge practice putting green and a practice bunker.

As an added bonus, all golf carts will feature the state-of-the-art Uplink GPS system. At this public facility, everyone will enjoy a county club atmosphere with country club service!

Overall, this 211-acre parcel includes a 7,148-yard, par-72 championship golf course, a 6,600-square-foot clubhouse that seats 160 guests, a linear park trail with two trailheads that will wind its way through the golf course and 29 acres of wetland preserve.

The concept is unlike any in the United States - park, open to the public, within the grounds of a golf course. The reason? City officials wanted to make sure that all residents, not just those who play golf, were able to enjoy Plantation Preserve.

The first Plantation Golf Club was constructed in 195 under the watchful eye of Fred Peters on 300 acres of his original 10,000-acre tract of land. Once completed, it immediately became an integral part of the life of the community and was considered the center of Plantation society. It's returning to that role today.
