Palm Cove Golf Club

Palm Cove Golf ClubEvery good golf club has its rules. Palm Cove Golf Club general manager Doug Moseley has an unwritten one on attire that “everyone has to come in with a smile on their face.” He applies it to his staff and hopes it rubs off on his members and even those making their first trip to Palm Cove, located on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River between US-1 and Florida’s Turnpike in Palm City. What else would you expect from a Chi Chi Rodriguez signature course? One thing is conditioning.

Doug believes Palm Cove’s greens are second to none in the area, even after taking the windy wallop from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne and ten inches of rain from Ivan within the first month after new owners took over the course last August. Palm Cove’s happy staff had the course back up and running within a week and he says its ready to provide a deceptively difficult challenge to golfers of all skill levels.

Though less than 6,300 yards from the tips, the par-71 still carries a 130 slope from the back tees, attesting to the tight fairways that make this a Chi Chi-style course, resplendent with shot-making challenges with your clubs, and your camera. Every hole is a photo opportunity. Doug’s favorite is the seemingly benign #8 handicapped, 380-yard par-4 12th. Players are faced off the tee with a waste area and water to the left and a bunker to the right, leaving an approach between water and wetlands to the green. Water, water, everywhere, from the 16 lakes and 20 acres of protected wetlands in the 120-acre course. All of that water brings nature to visit you in the form of numerous species of birds, turtles and yes, alligators. Once you’ve met the challenges of Palm Cove Golf, Doug hopes you’ll return, with that requisite smile still on your face! To join in the fun call (772) 287-5605.
