About Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy (CCRA): Over 30 years ago Hall of Fame golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez was invited personally by Mother Teresa to step forward to help needy children. This he did and Clearwater was the fortunate recipient of his decision to work with children who often struggle with their academics and personal life skills. Chi Chi was awarded unanimously by Congress their "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his work with children and servicemen around the world. Today CCRA educational programs are partially supported by 55,000 golfers a year and is the only golf course and sports complex in the country whose proceeds go to helping needy children. In addition, we are pioneering a unique model for education with the Pinellas County School System that serves 96 children daily and countless more through our affiliation with Big Brother Big Sisters, the Boys and Girls Club, and The First Tee of Clearwater. We even have a program for a college scholarship for these remarkable children. In short we have an extraordinary team of children, teachers, organizations, and civic leaders who are working hard to give these children the tools to create successful, secure and happy lives for themselves and their families. Chi Chi is inviting communities around the country and the world to visit and model what we are doing here in the Tampa Bay area.
