Spring Hill Golf Club Reopens Under New Ownership

Spring Hill Golf ClubSeven months after its former owners unexpectedly and with unexplainable reasons closed its doors, Spring Hill Golf Club has reopened under new management. Headed up by Roger Thompson and his 19-partner business group, U.S. Golf Properties, one of Spring Hill's oldest courses reopened Feb. 12 and plans a grand reopening Friday, Feb. 27.

"We realize we have to earn back the faith of the community," Thompson said. "We have to get back to where people realize not only that we're open, but we're going to stay open."

In a month's time, Thompson and company have trimmed back all the overgrown holes, cleaned out the clubhouse and overseeded from tee to green. They have lofty plans for the future, including expanding the clubhouse and restaurant, hosting local PGA events, and eventually, turning the course into a private facility for members only.

"That's a long way off, but that's the goal," Thompson said.

For now, the course is open to the public and rates start at $30 including green fee and cart. For more information, call the pro shop at (352) 556-5237 or log onto www.springhillgolfclub.com
