Super Bowl XLIIIIn 2009, the road to NFL greatness leads to beautiful Tampa Bay and Super Bowl XLIII. Our community is excited to welcome you and hopes you will enjoy our rich history, year-round sunshine, white, sandy beaches and thrilling attractions. Super Bowl XLIII will be packed with public events for visitors and locals to enjoy.

The run-up to the game began in early December, with the heavy hype beginning nine days before the game, Saturday January 24th, with the opening of the NFL Experience Interactive Theme Park adjacent to Raymond James Stadium and the Gasparilla Extravaganza celebrating the return of Gas-parilla season in Tampa Bay.

Among the highlights during Super Bowl Week are Mike Ditka’s Gridiron Greats Dinner of Champions & VIP Reception on Wednesday, where over 100 NFL legends will join hosts Mike Ditka and Bob Costas for a spectacular evening. Thursday through Saturday, the Super Tailgate Throwdown community event at Al Lopez Park features live entertainment, concerts, Interactive Kid Zones, food, games, prizes, ice sculpturing and more. On Friday, the NFL Alumni Player of the Year Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Tampa is a star-studded fundraising dinner and show during which current NFL players receive awards from Hall of Fame players. On Friday night at the Ford Ampitheatre the Pepsi Musica Super Bowl Fiesta features top Latin recording artists. Also Friday is the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration at the Sun Dome. Celebrating its 10th year, it’s the only gospel concert sanctioned by the NFL for Super Bowl Weekend. The event brings top musical artists and NFL players together for uplifting music and inspirational messages.

Super Bowl XLIII

Saturday starts with Super Bowl Breakfast at the Sun Dome, featuring Bart Starr, Tony Dungy, Derrick Brooks, Anthony Munoz and other NFL athletes and coaches along with the presentation of the 2009 Bart Starr Award. Also on Saturday, the Taste of the NFL at Tropicana Field is a food and wine extravaganza featuring 32 top chefs, one from each NFL city, paired with a current or alumni NFL player for a great evening of food, fun and football. Icons of the Good Life at The Venue in St. Petersburg on Saturday night lets you experience what it means to live the “Good Life” during this opulent night of glamour and extravagance hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs.
